The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing supply chain activities of Stadler Rail Service (SRS). This role will manage the development and improvement of purchase and logistic processes, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards, and support local teams in securing access to the Stadler Supply Chain. This position will manage high‑value procurement activities, maintain relationships with key suppliers and internal purchasing teams, and drive the setup and oversight of long‑term supplier agreements.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver long‑term fleet material management strategies.
• Take responsibility for the Supply Chain Management procedure.
• Develop stores systems, processes, and procedures for both existing and new projects.
• Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with safety standards and performance targets.
• Maintain close contact with the Material Managers of Stadler Service locations.
• Support the materialization of Service locations and ensure their access to the Stadler Supply Chain.
• Collaborate with Service locations to forecast material requirements.
• Monitor store performance regarding productivity, efficiency, and delivery within agreed budgets, and define corrective actions when required.
• Manage the procurement of high‑value components.
• Maintain contact with the Category Managers of the SRS Purchase Department.
• Utilize overseas spare supply agreements and apply them to the US market.
• Conduct Supplier Relationship Management, including maintaining contact with US sales affiliates of key suppliers.
• Establish and manage long‑term agreements with Tier 1 suppliers for the Service business.
• Collaborate with the Procurement team and other stakeholders.
• Review long‑term and high-volume supplier agreements from the rolling stock business to ensure service-related aspects are incorporated.
• Act independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and contribute to the company's KPIs and values.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.• 5+ years of experience in materials management, preferably in the rail or heavy manufacturing industry.
• Attained or working towards a professional qualification in materials management, logistics and/or supply chain management.
• Sound knowledge of material supply principles, procedures, and practices.
• Ability to implement strategies associated with warehouse and stock management.
• IT skills in Microsoft Office and other applications used for stock management.
• Ability to build personal credibility by demonstrating the organization's values, building trust and proactively contributing to business success.
• Experience of driving organizational improvement and successful implementation within the business.
• Strong customer focus, proven ability to build productive relationships at all levels of the organization.
• Smooth relationships when difficult circumstances prevail and develop a culture of trust both within and outside the team.
• Experience with shipping/receiving, layout optimization, and material handling equipment.
• Familiarity with rail-specific materials, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
