Role Overview:
The Project Manager – Bid, Supply Chain & Social Value plays a critical role in ensuring procurement requirements for local content and supply chain are managed effectively during live bids. You will propose strategies for supply chain and social value initiatives, securing sign-off from local teams before submission. This role also supports the safety team with inputs for tenders related to social value and sustainability. Working closely with the Division bid team, procurement, and social value functions, you will help maximise bid competitiveness, strengthen supplier engagement, and align responses with scoring criteria and tender scope. The role will be based locally with occasional travel to depots and supplier sites. The travel requirement provides an exciting opportunity for international collaboration, experience with diverse teams while actively supporting the growth journey of Stadler.
Main Tasks:
Tender Support:
• Support the Sales Team in preparing bids and tenders, including procurement and social value submissions, ensuring all documentation is reviewed and approved by relevant local heads of function.
• Work closely with local teams to provide strategic insights during tender processes, ensuring procurement and social value requirements are integrated and risks are proactively managed.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality documentation for tender submissions, including qualitative narratives and quantitative data, to demonstrate SRSUK's leadership in procurement and social responsibility.
Procurement & Risk Management
• Support the local procurement team in identifying project-specific risks, dependencies, and critical suppliers during the sales phase, enabling effective contract management and supplier performance monitoring.
• Collaborate with Sales and local teams to manage the formal handover of supply chain agreements, including nominated suppliers and long-term supply arrangements, ensuring clarity of obligations for ongoing maintenance contracts.
• Establish and maintain standardised handover documentation and governance processes to ensure consistency, auditability, and compliance across all projects.
• Confirm that warranty terms, liability provisions, and aftersales support requirements are appropriately communicated and flowed down into local teams through supplier management plans.
Social Value Delivery:
• Work with the local team to create high-quality social value documents, blending qualitative and quantitative data to strengthen bids and ensure sign-off for smooth transition to delivery.
• Identify social value initiatives for tenders that demonstrate SRSUK's commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.
• Ensure proposed activities comply with tender specifications and align with SRSUK's Social Value Themes.
• Build and maintain partnerships with VCSEs (Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprises) to enable rapid mobilisation and delivery of agreed initiatives.
• Work with the SRSUK Sustainability Team to showcase best practice examples and integrate deliverables into tender submissions.
• Calculate social value commitments using approved frameworks and proxy values for transparency and accountability.
Skills and Experience
• Proven experience in tender costing and/or procurement management.
• Strong understanding of rail supply chain management.
• Knowledge of social value frameworks and ESG compliance.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and bid coordination skills.
• Familiarity with procurement regulations and sustainability standards.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to influence senior stakeholders for tender sign-off.
• Ability to interact with customers and confidently represent and promote the Stadler brand.
Qualifications
• Professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Professional certification in procurement or sustainability (desirable).
