HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT

The Commissioning Mechanical Technician is a senior-level technical role responsible for performing advanced mechanical commissioning activities on complex systems and equipment. This role ensures installed mechanical systems meet design specifications, operational requirements, safety standards, and performance expectations. The Technician serves as a technical expert, provides mentoring to junior technicians, troubleshoots advanced issues, and leads system start‑up, testing, and handover activities.

Key Activities

• Lead mechanical commissioning activities for rotating and static equipment, including pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, piping systems, heat exchangers, boilers, and mechanical auxiliaries.
• Perform system energization, start‑up, functional testing, performance verification, and reliability trials.
• Interpret engineering documents such as P&IDs, isometrics, mechanical GA drawings, O&M manuals, and commissioning procedures.
• Verify installation compliance with engineering specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, NFPA).
• Conduct troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions on mechanical equipment and system failures.
• Create and maintain commissioning checklists, punch lists, redlines, test reports, and system turnover documentation.
• Review method statements, commissioning plans, and safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field
• 8+ years of mechanical maintenance, installation, or commissioning experience.
• 3+ years working in commissioning of complex mechanical systems at an advanced level.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries preferred: oil & gas, power generation, manufacturing, data centers, pharmaceuticals, or industrial facilities.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, piping systems, industrial HVAC, pressure systems, hydraulics, and mechanical instrumentation.
• Skilled in reading P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical drawings, and 3D models.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting, vibration analysis, alignment, and system diagnostics skills.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems and commissioning management software.
• Understanding of applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, OSHA, ISO).
