Role Overview:

We are looking for a proactive Management Accountant with strong analytical skills to deliver accurate reporting and valuable commercial insights. You will ensure compliance with reporting requirements, manage key stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement through the automation and digitalisation of finance processes. The role will report into the Senior Management Accountant and will be based at either our Newcastle or Liverpool HQ sites.

HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in compliance with UK GAAP and Group reporting requirements
• Ensure that all transactions are booked accurately and the trial balance is maintained and closed at period ends in a timely and accurate fashion
• Deliver clear variance analysis (actual vs budget vs forecast) with actionable insights
• Prepare contract-level profitability analysis to support operational improvements and strategic decision making
• Produce cash flow forecasts to support with budgeting, forecasting and working capital management
• Manage provisioning for stock obsolescence
• Produce UK statutory accounts and maintain your technical proficiency by reviewing changes to relevant accounting standards, exposure drafts and other reporting requirements
• Prepare and submit VAT and any other regulatory returns as necessary
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop common reporting templates across the business in line with Division standards
• Drive automation and digitalisation of finance processes using Business and Artificial Intelligence tools
• Support relationships with a range of important external stakeholders including our auditors, bankers, insurers and pensions advisors.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

Skills and Qualifications:

• Qualified or part qualified accountant
• Effective communication, teamwork and stakeholder management skills
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritise a demanding workload
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to challenge
• Inquisitive mindset with a proactive approach to change and drive for continuous improvement
• Excellent IT skills with experience of using Power BI.

Desirable:
• Contract accounting experience
• Awareness of digital tools and automation in finance is an advantage.
