Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler. SRS UK provides a train maintenance service for a growing number of clients in the UK. Since our inception into the UK market in 2017, over 150 new Stadler trains have joined the UK Rail Network which signifies the start of an exciting future for Stadler in the UK. Our current depot locations are in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Norwich offering a wide scope of opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the UK Rail Industry.

We are looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join the Engineering team at our Mann Island headquarters in Liverpool. Stadler Rail Services UK HQ function retains a core of technically skilled staff to provide technical and business support to the projects as and when required. Reporting to the UK Head of Engineering, the role will be responsible for providing technical and project support to the local projects to assist them in meeting their business requirements. This enables the business to adapt flexibly to the needs of the projects.

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Conduct technical investigations and solve problems.
• Consult with internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce and deliver technical reports or presentations to all levels of the business.
• Conduct and document risk assessments.
• Support and lead the development of business cases to justify investment in vehicle modifications, tooling, additional services or other investments to improve business performance.
• Support engineering change processes.
• Manage and update LCC models and other related data in the support of maintenance management and control.
• Undertake any other technical activity that you have the skill and ability to perform.

• Management of projects, from inception to definition, delivery and close-out.
• Support the development and implementation of standards and procedures in accordance with Stadler's QMS system.
• Oversee reporting on matters such as safety failures, incidents and various management reports.
• Attend on-site at any of the UK depot locations to conduct technical examinations, surveys, staff discussions, meeting or other activities.

What are we looking for?

• A basic understanding of traction and rolling stock systems, or, an extensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, electronic and software systems from another highly controlled industry.
• Proven experience in an engineering environment with a focus on systems engineering, design and development maintenance/manufacturing/production, verification and validation and through-life support.
• Knowledge of maintenance activities related to safety critical equipment or plant.
• Experience of using any of the various techniques used to understand, analyse and demonstrate RAMS performance in an engineering domain.
• Experience and understanding relating to the assessment and management of risks within a highly controlled industry (railway, aviation, civil nuclear etc).
• Knowledge and experience in conducting engineering root cause investigations.
• Knowledge and experience in the use of tools appropriate to your professional background.
• Experienced in the use of engineering standards to demonstrate compliance or provide assurance.

• Extensive technical expertise relating to traction and rolling stock.
• At-depth formal education on either an academic (MEng, BEng) or practical basis (HND, HNC).
• Member of a professional institution.
• Extensive demonstrable experience in managing projects.
• Proven experience in the introduction of new trains.
• Extensive experience and understanding of risk and safety requirements, analysis techniques and processes.
• Driving licence.
