Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler, Switzerland. SRS UK provides a train maintenance service for a growing number of clients in the UK. In the next few years over 100 new Stadler trains will be joining the English railway network which signifies the start of an exciting future for Stadler in the UK.

We are looking to recruit a purchasing assistant. You will work within the UK Materials and Logistics teams based in Cardiff supporting the business to implement innovation and advancement across the business.The role will involve supporting the business in ensuring tools and materials are available at the point of use to allow the business to provide trains as and when necessary, at all times meeting all criteria in the areas of product and people safety, reliability, environment and train presentation (interior & exterior as required). Ensuring industry, engineering and production best practice and standards, and at least as a minimum the contract requirements.

Purchasing Assistant

Your tasks

Organisational:

•Processing PO's with approved vendors
•Tracking deliveries and updating order records (e.g. dates)
•Ensure all suppliers meet company's minimum required specification on acceptable material quality, especially with safety critical parts
•Support any function with Supplier related issues (first contact point)
•Supervise overdue materials and parts with suppliers to effectively minimise any delays.
•Amendment of re-order levels to eliminate shortages to bill-of-material issues
•Arrange for prompt return for repair/replace or re-calibration of tools and equipment used for maintenance
•Recognise risk and be able to pre-empt mitigate & find resolution of.
•Support Warranty process as required
Your profile

Essential:

•Sound knowledge of material supply principles, procedures and practices
•IT skills in Microsoft Office and other applications used for stock management

•Strong team focus, proven ability to build productive relationships at all levels of the organisation
•Smooth relationships when difficult circumstances prevail and develop a culture of trust both within and outside the team

•Is pro-active in the role and identifies improved ways of supporting the Company in managing their growth objectives
•Participate in team and one-to-one meetings, and undertake, as appropriate, training, relevant to the role as required
•Keep up to date with developments and policies and procedures within the Company, that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant internal/external factors e.g. Company policies and procedures, quality management standards, health and safety.
•Have a proactive approach to working within a team environment and be willing to support the team in other ways
